Miniature Art
Fine Art on a Small Scale

Meticulously Detailed
Why Miniatures?
I can’t explain where my passion for miniatures came from. Maybe it was because my creativity started with my paintings of mini horse portraits on wooden stable name plaques (a hobby business I still enjoy when time allows). Or perhaps it simply appeals to my lifelong love of detail.
When I started drawing, I googled ‘miniature art’, and was delighted to discover this is a unique art form in it’s own right, with exacting standards and an incredible attention to detail – for in miniature art, it is the details that matter.
I work on a variety of miniature drawings through the year to exhibit and sell (often as both originals and Limited Edition prints), and I am also happy to discuss commissions in this fine art form.

My Miniature Artwork – Originals and Prints
“In miniature painting, we must pay attention to the smallest details, as they can make the biggest difference.”

Commission Review
Chesca exceeded all my expectations—not only did she capture Rocco’s appearance with stunning accuracy, but she also managed to reflect his kind and intelligent soul. The result was a beautiful piece of art, as anyone can see.
When my brother and his partner unwrapped it, they were absolutely overwhelmed by the incredible likeness of their beloved dog. It was the perfect gift to honour Rocco’s memory.”

What makes a miniature?
Miniature Art is a fine art form, including paintings, engravings and sculpture, that is executed with exquisite detail.
Miniature paintings are generally a maximum of 6″ x 4.5″ – and often much smaller!
Miniatures are not simply ‘small paintings’, but intricate artworks which must stand up under the finest of scrutiny.
According to lathamstudios.com: “A miniature usually takes as long or longer to produce as a large piece of art. A fine miniature can be magnified many times and it will still hold together as a fine work of art of much greater size. Most artists can work large, but few have the skill and discipline to work miniature.”
“A miniature painting is a labor of love – it requires patience, dedication, and passion.”
